Incorporate wine tasting into your next intimate event and watch how it creates an opportunity for your guests to connect, learn and enjoy the experience. Here are a few tips to make your wine pairing a success.
Ask for Opinions: The world of wine is so vast and varied that you really can’t go wrong by sampling a few new bottles with friends. Everyone has their unique preferences when it comes to wine. Invite people to share what they know and enjoy, and be sure to write down any wines you want to purchase again later. Add dinner or hors d’oeuvres, and you’ll spark great conversation that continues well into the evening.
Keep It Simple: A wine tasting doesn’t need to be a complicated, all-night affair. Make it as fancy as you’d like, but a simple sampling and discussion of a few varieties would also do the trick. Choose 3-5 bottles of wine (with guidance from our chefs if you need suggestions!) or ask guests to bring their favorite bottle, and let the tasting begin. Pass around an antipasto platter for a little added sustenance.
…Or Go All Out! To upgrade the experience to something more formal, try the wines at different temperatures, in different glasses, or pick a particular country’s wines to sample. For instance, Chilean wines are especially popular lately, but what about highlighting a country like South Africa or state like Virginia? There are so many overlooked wine regions to explore!
